Students will explore various wheel-throwing and handbuilding techniques. Mugs, bowls, vases, closed forms and slab-built pieces will be covered as well as how to use surface treatments such as texture, slips and glaze. The instructor will also work with students individually to help them develop their ideas in clay and have fun being creative with clay! |
Students will be introduced, or continue on their journey of discovery of the basic techniques of building with clay. These techniques include pinching, coiling, soft slab, hard slab, sculpture and throwing on the wheel. While learning these techniques, students will create projects, such as vases, boxes, cups and coiled and pinched pots which will then be decorated and fired. |

Classes include up to 50 lbs of clay and open lab hours for practice. A VPG member will be available to answer questions. Labs are held Thursdays and Saturdays 10 AM - 1 PM during the same weeks that classes are held.
Students will be accepted in the order in which registration is received and will be notified by email.
VPG reserves the right to cancel classes if minimum class sizes are not met or due to unforeseen circumstances.
Payment must be made to Village Potters Guild by April 3, 2021 to secure a spot in the class.
