Jim FryI have always been a maker and have loved working with my hands while creating functional, artistic items. When I was younger I did a lot of woodworking and all types of carpentry. Working with my hands has always been part of my life.
I started blowing glass in 2003 and worked in a glass studio as a student and then as a teacher. I was fascinated by the different forms I could create and the “dance” in the creation and interaction with the medium. It came to a point where I was interested in working with other media that I could have a more direct hands-on experience with. I looked to working with clay as my next experience for my artistic expression. I found that clay was a new and exciting medium to work with. It had elements from the glass blowing I had been doing but was also much more of a tactile material which I had missed when working with glass. I have been hooked ever since. |
