Intermediate / Advanced CeramicsThis class focuses on advanced wheel throwing concepts, with a review of basic skills and pattern making. Students should be able to wheel throw a cylinder of even thickness and be proficient in basic hand building. Projects may include a teapot, nesting bowls, pouring vessel, and large forms from multiple pieces. Students will learn how to make glazes and the process it takes to keep glazes in good working order.
Includes up to 50 lbs of clay, glaze, and firing. All classesStudents will be expected to follow the syllabus and complete each project. Raku is offered to all classes - scheduling subject to instructor and raku technical lead.

Intro to CeramicsThis course introduces students to both practical and expressive forms in clay through wheel throwing and handbuilding techniques. Students learn to make forms for multiple vessels (cups, mugs, bowls) through wheel, slab and coil processes, surface decoration, glazing methods and more. Students may repeat this course to develop a strong foundation in ceramics.
Includes up to 50 lbs of clay, glaze, and firing. Open StudioVPG studio is open to all current students Thu & Sat 10 am - 1 pm during the same weeks that classes are held.
